In a new series of short interviews with some of our younger members, please enjoy a little insight into our fellow Catenian, Adam, 23, who joined the Grimsby circle in 2019 and has been a fantastic member with a great deal to give in our community since.
Are you one of our young Catenians and would like to share what being a Catenian means to you? Please get in touch as we would love to hear your story!
What made you want to be a Catenian?
Growing up with a dad as a Catenian, I was always surrounded by good company and friendly faces, as I got older I grew to learn and appreciate the charity work and close friendship offered by the Catenians and wanted to join myself to be apart of it all.
What did you know about the Catenians before you joined?
The Catenians have always been present in my life in the form of my dad and his friends and have always been a group of people I can rely on. However I did not know about much about their charity work growing up but as I got older I started to appreciate all they do for the local community and charities.
Since you’ve joined, has you experience been better, different or worse than you thought it was going to be?
Joining the Catenians, I wasn’t sure if the older group would appreciate a younger man joining but since joining I have met only kind people and have made great lifelong friends, especially with my fellow young members.
Have you been made to feel welcome?
The catenians have been very welcoming over the years and have introduced me to some very good friends and I have enjoyed many good events with them, I often look forward to a catenian night especially the large events such as president Sunday and the ladies night as they are always good social events.
Would you like to take on any roles in the Catenians Grimsby circle?
In future I would consider taking on a role in the circle as I would like to help my circle reach out to a younger audience.
Do you ever think about being Circle President?
I would possibly consider it in future but currently do not think I would have the time or facilities to be able to successfully be a circle president.

Many of our younger members are seeing the benefits of Catenian membership – from friendship to community involvement and a true sense of welbeing, purpose and connection through faith. We’re thrilled that Adam could share his story with us.
